2002 SL1 no start
I have a 2002 with a 1.9 liter that has been givingme problems.My daughter called a few days ago and the car would not start leaving school. I would turn over strong but no start. I arraved and cycled the key 3-4 times to see if I could hear the fuel pump run, which I could and after the 4th time I attempted to start and it fired rightup and ran like a top. I put in some dry gas and the car was starting all through the night.
The next morning I tried it and again strong crank but no start.After work Ichecked with a scan tool and no codes. I checked the fuel pressure and it is 44psi and holds after shutting it down.This morning It started right up and then after removing my fuel gauge and reinstalling the air intake tube again no start, after a couple of hours it started again and idled fine.Oh it has been cold lately about 15 degrees in the morning. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Come on Guy's any ideas. After reading some other posts I was thinking it could be a crankshaft postion sensor but when it has not started it was cold and everybody says that a CPS usually acts up after it warms up or gets hot.
The other posibilityis the engine coolant sensor, but I've read that when they go bad they tend to make the car run very rich and I've had this happen whenits 15 degrees F. and I would think it would start.

If you find the spark is present, then check the ECTS to see if it is open or shorted, and replace it and the associated connector (about $40usd). The ECTS varies the fuel mixture ratio depending on the temperature, and if you are at 15 degrees, and the ECTS thinks you are hot hot -- you'll never get the car to start
