Hello All. Can anyone offer advice please? I have a 92 SL which I have been pleased with overall. Car has approx 150K miles on it. It used to idle really high and stall often. I replaced the Idle Control Valve and the Oxygen sensor and those seem to have helped. (Although it still stalls from time to time - just not as often.) Overall seems to be running better.

My biggest concern now is that everytime I drive the car, the exhaust smells STRONGLY of gasoline. If I use the heater in the car, the entire cab smells like gas (and I get to smell like gas all day too.) The gas mileage has also dropped dramatically.

Has anyone experienced this? Any advice? Thanks!

Check fuel pressure regulator at the fuel rail -- these do fail and will cause you to dump too much gas into the system.

Also, check fuel lines where they come up from the filter and along the firewall.

Ever change ECTS (engine coolant temp sensor)? When these fail, the car will run way rich as PCM thinks coolant temp is -40....

There is an outside chance that the (charcoal) canister purge solenoid is stuck open and is either filling with gas or is saturated and is venting gas fumes.

Are you sure there are no holes in the exhaust system between the exhaust manifold and the catalytic converter?

Any SES codes?

Probably could use an EGR cleaning as well.
