There is a sticky at the top of one of the sections that covers interchangeability of Saturn engines. So yes, depending on the year of the engine things are not a direct replacement. But it gets close.
And there are parts that need to be transferred. First of all your "new" engine is some one elses old engine.
take a look at the condition of yours and that is what the new one will look like.
I have swapped engines many times. It is not hard but it is also not easy. Things that are going to be able to help you is an engine stand. Harbor Freight about $50.00 or so,. You bolt your new engine to it and it can twist and turn and let you clean things up. You can rent an engine hoist. About $60.00-ish plus the hassle of getting from point A to Point B. Yes you will want to do that.
You can do the block and tackle, I have, it works but if you hook it to the wrong thing the wrong way you can pull your roof down.
Things will be dirty. A gallon of parts cleaner from Harbor Freight and an old paint brush to slather things with. A metal pan to put on the floor to help contain the worst of being sloppy. Large, about the size of a card table. I think they are drip pans to put under the car to prevent leaky cars from staining things.
Too late, my driveway is freely decorated.
As to the engine. The recommendation of 5W20 motor oil as stipulated all over the place is the kiss of death to engine reliability. Be sure that you have some assurance that the engine you purchase is not a massive oil consumer and also never use an oil lighter than 10W30.
Find the sticky and read it. Lots of information and answers to your questions are in it.
