Default 95 Saturn SL2 Oil Consumption?

95 Saturn SL2 with 185,000 miles on the Chassis and Supposedly 4,000 miles on a newly rebuilt Motor (Skeptical at this point)

I've noticed that after driving for some time that it is low on Oil, with No visible oil spots in Driveway or any Smoke coming from tail pipe. Could it be getting past the rings and still not smoke or is their inherit problem with this make and Model that I could address? Is there anything Short of a Rebuild that I could do to Slow the Consumption down?

Thanks!

My 95 SC2 at that mileage went through 2 quarts of synthetic every 1,000 miles before it self destructed. But it burned every drop....no smoke...even passed emissions.....

Likely it is getting past the rings or in past the valve guide seals. If someone who does not know s car engines did the rebuild, they may not have known to replace the valve guide seals......knowledge is power.

How much oil does it burn per 1000 mi? Who did you buy it from?
Are you sure it's not seeping into the coolant and vice versa?

Be sure to keep the oil up or you will hasten the demise of your engine -- these cars do not like to be down any more than 1 quart.....

only other fix for the oil burn is to get the corrected pistons or find a templet and put the oil reliefs into the pistons. Mine passes emissions as well and burns oil. most of the time I never notice any smoke. only real times which is rare is when turning off the traction control and getting on it but again that rarely happens
