I have a 97 Saturn SL1 sedan, it has been noisy at idle but now the same vibration happens at many diferent RPM's (while sitting in the driveway)

I have heard the engine mounts on this car wear out often, but when I went to the shop they asked if I thought is was the motor mounts or the motor mount struts? How would I know, it will cost a great deal more to replace the motor mount struts than the motor mounts.

Which is it the noramlly wears out on these cars?, or how would I know which to replace?

Try http://saturnfans.comand search their site for pictures and information, you'll be surprised at the amount of information available there as well as timely advice to questions.

My 97 SC2's mounts were completely thrashed when I got mine. To the point where I picked up new ones. Easy way to check is pop your hood, start your car, manually rev the engine via the throttle body, and check to see how much movement you get. If it's shaking like crazy, you may want to replace yours. I got mine at a Pick-A-Part and filled them with silicone so they were extra strong.

Yes, I am sure I need to replace the mounts, but whihc ones? The shop asked me whether I wanted the motor mounts replaced or the motor mount struts replaced? I don't know which ones are the ones that fail most.
