Default 99 Saturn SL2 Bad Rod/Motor Swap

Hello, i'm new to this forums, i have a 99 saturn SL2 that has been sitting due to a bad motor knock, it is quite loud and grows faster with an increase in rpms. I imagine it has a spun bearing or something happened to the rod/piston. I'm pretty sure my best bet is a motor swap, does anyone know what model year engines i can swap into it the easiest and cheapest? I've searched the forums but haven't found anything pertaining to a 99 sl2. I am going to try and get a junk yard engine or i found a post on craigslist parting out a 2001 sl2. I need to get it running as cheaply as possible, i've done a swap before but any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

That is, without a doubt, the best collection of engine swap information that I have run across. Anyone who is even remotely considering doing any modifying on their Saturn should mark that link and place it in their favorites file ....

There is definitely a lot of information there but it is not that specific to my issue, though from what i read it sounds like the 99 up to 02 engines are all the same and should all bolt up and have the same electrical connectors and stuff, if anybody knows differently, ie, an 01 or 02 motor won't work in my 99 it would be great to know before i commit to buying an engine, thanks!

That swap guide supposedly is a reconciled, organized version of the original turbosaturns.net swap guide with additions, etc.....
