what type of antifreeze should i use in my 94 sl1 i was told the red kind. also i failed my smog test because it was heating up and my egine serve soon light came on and they failed it. so i have to sheck the codes to see what is wrong unless you all know, but what type of antifreeze shold i get

94 -- pretty sure that'd be the traditional green stuff , as 95's still had the green. Shoud be in owner's manual. I'd also think that you'd be able to tell from what's already in there--unless it's all skanked up from not ever being changed

This is a loaded question these days, though, b/c I believe they now make one that will work in both older and newer cooling systems (without damaging the cooling system).

w/r/t codes and SES: post the codes and we'll get you sorted out. I would guess right off the bat that a new ECTS (Engine coolant temp sensor--brass tipped) + connector (Saturn only part) will help your cause -- especially if the original one has never been replaced.
