Cam Timing Mod Question?
I am working on a 99 SL1 i bought just to drive to and from work and now it has become a door stop since i bought a new car. So it has since become a toy.
Here is what i have already done :
Bored : 82mm to 82.5 (20 over) Weisco Pistons
Stroke : Stock
Head : DOHC Port and polish
Rods : Scat Moly
Cam : Custom Grind By Colt Cams
Clutch : Exedy stage 2 clutch
Trans : Phantom Grip LSD
Fuel Pump : Walbro 255lph
Tune : By Hypertech
Header : OBX
Now, i had a friend who "SAYS" he is a saturn gooroo but who knows.
He was suggesting if i stay naturally aspirated that I go with some "OBX" adjustable cam gears. Now im not one to play with timing to much if it is a naturally aspirated car. All my turbo cars i would retard timing if need be. What im wanting to know is if this is advisable, has any one done this mod already? and if so is it worth the $$$ and many degrees to advance?

This level of horsepower increase definitely falls into the area of sw2cam's expertise, but if I was going to wring the ultimate amount of power out of my engine, and hang the cost, then adding adjustable gears to the mix would definitely be a plus.
I have no idea at all as to the cost, again, I defer to the experts who have "been there" on this board. Good luck
