I just bought a 1994 SL1 with 70,000 original miles. I have been reading several posts reguarding the check engine light on. Im going to check the ECTS and EGR. Will the check engine light go off automatically if the problem iscorrected?

Yes and no. The ECTS won't turn on the SES light while the EGR valve may. It might bebetter if you can find a store that will loan out their scanner free for you to pull any codes or they will do this for you in hopes of business. Who does it isn't as important as writing down the specific codes for you to figure out what's going on with your car. When/if you're able to reteieve the specific codes here's a link for the OBD I codes; http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44420

Correction! DOH, Low Saturn's right, onlya paper clip is needed and no scanner. Sorry for the misinformation.Edited by: ducky

You done need to borrow a scanner from a store. Unless Office Depot loans our paper clips. Because thats all you need to retrieve stored codes.
