Okay, so I was dealing with an idle issue last week, and I changed the throttle position sensor. Also, I did a complete tune-up including plugs wires air filter PCV valve oil and filter. Have you ever replaced the ECTS? If not, it might be time to find an OEM one along with the pigtail. Just a suggestion.

 

If your idle is slightly high and stable, Rube probably has the answer.

I interpreted as you meant and had crazy high idle. Hence the things I listed.

There is also the PCV valve to intake manifold hose, which, when it tears or comes off, creates a massive vacuum leak as it pulls in un metered air.

I'm thinking you forgot to put it back on when you changed the PCV valve.

 

How many rebuilds on that original engine?
Or how many miles per quart?

There have been no rebuilds to the original engine. The original engine is just that the original Union I have done no rebuilds all I've done is maintain the engine and not drive crazy. It's not a high idle it's a fluctuating idle.

 

Fluctuating idle at what RPM once at operating temperature?

 

When's the last time you cleaned the throttle body? It could be as simple as that or maybe even a gasket. If you haven't ever replaced the ECTS and pigtail, though, I'd suggest doing that.
