Default Quick A/C compressor/belt question

My clutch assembly on my ac compressor failed a while back. So I temporarily put a smaller belt that excluded the ac pully to ensure not doing anymore damage to other components of my ac system since it was working fine. It took me a while but i just got around to replacing the compressor with a new one. However in the switch all the freon was removed. It may be another week or so before take it to have it vaccumed and filled back up with freon.

Will it hurt my new compressor/system to put the correct belt back on now if there is no freon in the system. Should I wait or can I put it on now? I dont plan on engaging it without freon. Just want to get it all put back together.

I'd wait, just as a precautionary measure. I don't know about your weather there, but if you're using your defrost in the mornings, it will still try to engage the a/c compressor. Just wait until you get a charge into the compressor and you'll know you did it right.
