Well I finally got around to pulling the engine/tranny on my 98 SC2. Pulling from the top side was not a lot of fun compared to pulling the from the bottom. Got this cheap engine cherry picker from HF and had it set up and found the boom would not extend far enough so had to take it apart and pull it out further and drill a new hole in the boom. A major issue was the exhaust pipe and flange would not let the engine far enough forward to allow the intake to clear the firewall so I had to cut it off (I can weld it back together later). Being a one man crew has it drawback too, thus the ratchet strap you see.

Ready to go.

In position to start

Caught the big fish.

Time to call it a day.

LOl... no I cut the exhaust pipe just below the flange that connects to the exhaust manifold.. I had removed the 3 nuts from the exhaust manifold and the exhaust pipe came down but not far enough it was hitting the cross member on the subframe.I need to move the engine about 2 inches toward the front of the car so the intake manifold would clear the firewall. I tried every pry bar a I had and all the swear words I picked up from my Navy days. The only solution at that point was a cutoff wheel. Once I cut the pipe I was able to drop it below the crossmember and then I was able to tilt the engine toward the front end with a ratchet strap to clear the firewall and the engine came out easily.
