Saturn SL1 1996 After Market Cruise
#1
I am in the process of installing a cruise control in my Saturn SL1
1996. I went to the wiring section on the12volts site for cruise controls and
basically said the the VSS is Green and the Tach is Purple/White.
I also went to the library and found the Engine Electric
Schematic. I want to be sure I hook things up correctly. Well the
schematic does not agree perfectly with the information listed on this
site. The VSS is Dark Green per the schematic and there is also a Dark
Green that goes to the Coolant Temp Gauge.
Now the Tach wire in this
(assumption here is that the wire is purple with a white
strip). If I could find my Old Heath Kit meter (not sure if anyone
remembers the old built it yourself Heath Kits ;-). ) It has a tach in
it and it could hook it up and figure out that wire.
There is a connector for the Factory installed cruise control.
Basically I thought that I could pull from these wires. There is a
Green wire there which might be the VSS I am not sure. Then based on
other information I have read. I was guessing the Black wire was the
Tach. However after gathering all this info I am sure of nothing.
My worry is I hook up the wrong wire and feed 12 volts to something in the unit that cannot handle it and I burn it out.
So basically does anyone have a suggestion how to find the correct wire with these conflicting information? Either from the connector for the factory install connector for it's cruise control or some other place.Thank you for any help on this!___________________________________________

The cruise is working ...Yahoo
.
Just a FYI.... it was 6B Dark Green wire per my schematic.
I had other information that referred to it as the D6 green connection.
Which turns out to be the I/P Cluster side of the PCM.
Looking back is seems obvious now but when you thinking you can
possibly lose you investment with one wrong connection it can paralyze
you from making the connection unless you are sure. Anyway, no guts no
glory....it's done.
