SHIFTER GETS STUCK!

I HAVE A 97 SL2 5SPEED,I AM ON TRANNY #3. I KNOW ABOUT THE DIFFERENTIAL PIN,I WAS TOLD TO WELD IT OR GET ONE FROM QUIAFE. BUT THE COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE LAST ONE AND THE CURRENT ONE IS THE SHIFTER WON''T GO IN TO GEAR,ESSPECIALY 1ST AND SOMETIMES 2ND AND RARELY 3RD.IT WORKS FINE HALF THE TIME. I''VE NOTICED IT HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS COLD OR HOT ESSPECIALY WHEN IT''S HOT OR BEEN RUNNING FOR A WHILE. I FIRST GOT THE CAR WITH 50,000MI ON IT AND THE FIRST TRANZ DID''T DO THIS, IT JUST BLEW THE DIFF OUT OF THE SIDE OF THE HOUSING AND ITS BEEN ALL DOWN HILL FROM HERE WITH THIS MATTER.THE ENGINE AND BODY HAVE 87,500MI ON THEM AND THE TRANZ HAS 63,000MI. CAN ANY ONE HELP ME WITH THIS? I WAS THINKING ABOUT GETTING AN 02 MP3 BUT I DON''T KNOW IF IT WILL MATE UP WITH A 97 DOHC ENGINE. I AM LOOKING FOR ANY OPTION FOR SOMETHING A LITTLE MORE HEAVY DUTY. SUPPOSEDLY THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER AND SLAVE WERE REPLACED,WHEN I GOT THE CAR I GOT A WARRENTY WITH IT THAT HAS SINCE EXPIRED BUT I KNOW THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED AND IF I''M NOT MISTAKEN EITHER ONE OR BOTH OF THOSE CYLINDERS COMES WITH A KIT.SO THAT WOULD MEAN SOMETHING WAS REPLACED AT LEAST ONCE IF NOT TWICE.I DID HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE SHIFT CABLE HORSESHOE SHAPED PIN THAT HOLDS THE LINKAGE IN,IT KEPT FALLING OUT AND GETTING LOST,BUT THAT WAS THE LAST TRANZ AND THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN FIXED.COULD IT BE THE SHIFTER ITSELF OR ARE THERE MORE CABLES UNDER THE SHIFTER CONSOLE THAT ARE SENSITIVE?ONE OF MY FRIENDS GAVE AN EDUCATED GUESS AND SAID IT MIGHT BE THE PRESSURE PLATE BUT HE IS NO PRO.ANY INFO IS GREATLY APPRICEATED.
