Hey,
I am trying to mod my SL1 and i want to start with the intake and exhaust. I have an automatic tranny and i want to know what is recommended to use. I already know what kind of exhaust i am going with. If ne one could help with the intake question pls let me know

well you best bet is to switch to a DOHC but if you don''t want to do that, you can get a short ram air intake. since you have a auto a CAI won''t work, tranny filter is in the way i think.

i am trying to do it as simply as possible. ok i feel real stupid what is DOHC? and i knew a CAI wouldnt work. i have seena few ram air intakes and it looks like they just bolt on to what is already existing...like i said i want it as simple as possible

DOHC is a dual overhead cam engine. they are 24 more HP than our single overhead cams. yes i have a single too. and yeah, the short ram air just bolts right in, just make sure you have a spot for that one sensor on the air filter box. I think its air flow or temp sensor.

Unless he has a 1991-1994. Then a DOHC is 39 nore HP.

ahhhh ok...thanks that helps a lot but i think i will be switching any time soon....how much does a DOHC cost? is it the whole engine i would be replacing or just the overhead cams?

I think you have to replace the guage cluster ECU and the WHOLE engine not just the head. I think i might be forgetting something too. But an engine around where i live is $600 and thats a working one. =/

eh...i dont think i am going to do all that....the rai will do fine for now...less hassle.....but i appreciate all your input...its great thanks
