Now I'd take your starter out and have it tested. Most local auto parts stores will do this free of charge.

Quick update - I replaced the starter and it has not done it again yet. Im quite sure that was my problem, when I took the starter to get tested it worked at first but then stopped, they told me it was the solenoid.

Sounds great. I bet you are happy to have that problem fixed. It's nice the the repair probably wasn't too expensive. Hopefully you bought a lifetime starter.

Your battery was likely part of the problem since it had been leaking. FYI-you can replace just the solenoid on starters too, but the saving is sometimes minimal.

I agree with JeepGink on this -- When replacing a starter, always spend the little extra for the "lifetime" option ..........
