whining sound at high speed
I recently started to get a whining sound when i go over 40 mph in my 2000 sl2. I can make the sound go away temporarily if i turn the steering wheel about an inch to the left. the sound seems to be coming from the front of the car on the passenger side. any ideas as to what the problem might be. the sound gets louder as I go faster.
Thanks

I noticed that i can feel a small vibration through the gas pedal and steering wheel as well...i tried turning the steering wheel completely in both directions while car was running but at a stop sign and everything seemed normal...vibration and whining sound is definitely relative to the speed of the car...faster i go the louder it gets

Hi
Just thought I would let you know that I noticed that the wheel balancing weight was missing (fell off) my front right tire so I am assuming that was the problem...getting the tire balanced tomorrow so I will post if that was the issue...thanks again everyone!

since anything goes this weekend (apparently) ---
I'd check the side marker fluid along with the turbonator setting -- it is well known that too high a setting on the turbonator can cause front end shimmy (whole lotta shakin goin on) .....
do you remember the post about the guy that set his turbonator to "11" and the wheels actually separated from the vehicle? His kids were watching Spinal Tap in the back seat and he couldn't control himself
