Wierd running problem
My son has a '95 SL2 1.9L. He is having acceleration problems. He added oil without pulling the dipstick and over filled the engine. The oil was an inch over the top mark on the stick. I drained the excess oil out and sent him on his way. He told me the car was having problems reaching 50 - 60 mph. I checked out the engine. I pulled the plug wires and found 2 to 3 inches of oil in the tubes the plugs are in. I removed most of the oil, except residue, pulled the plugs, cleaned them and the plug wires and put it all back together. The car ran good for a little while and then it runs bad. Let me explain that. If the trans is in park or neutral then the engine can rev to 3000 to 3500 and stay there. No problems. If the car is in drive it is tough to get up to speed but not like it is slipping, it drives like the engine has a problem not the transmission.

oil in spark plug wells = leaking cam cover gasket.
Replace. Mind the torque specs; overtightening will likely cause leaks and you'll be re-doing it....
Also Replace those plug wires..
See how it runs after that...
May also want to clean the throttle body since the excess oil may have been venting thru the PCV to the throttle body...

One other thing. I drove it last night when the engine was cold and it drove great until it began to warm up and then it began to kind of stall but only while it is in gear. The engine gives no problem in neutral or park.

I would do a compression check shoulds like a head gasket problem. That would explain the extra reading on the dip stick. Same problems you explain happen to me in my 95 SC2. It would run in park but soon as you put it into drive it would die. Mine could of been a bigger leak to kill the motor. Let me know what happens

The cam cover gasket is bad and leaking into the plug wells. Thats what happens when the cam cover leaks.
Change cam cover gasket and seals (get from dealer)
Replace plugs (get from dealer)
Replace plug wires
While the plugs are out go ahead and do a compression check.
