97 was a bad year for fuel pumps but i believe the extended warranty on yours is long since gone. they did have an issue with bleed down

Fuel pump came in yesterday. They were working on it 5:00 pm yesterday. I hope to get a call this morning telling me everything is ok. I will give a update when I know something.

It wasn't the fuel pump. Catalytic was plugged, It took the garage two weeks to figure it out. Replaced the exhaust sytem runs like new. Local garage says he won't forget this one. Never saw a catalytic plugged so bad it wouldn't run.

Must be some dammed rough roads around your place, to make a catalytic fail internally like that. I've seen 'em get loose and rattle over time, but never come apart so badly that the exhaust was like totally plugged. Glad you got it fixed, and hope they didn't charge ya for the fuel pump ....

When the fuel pump didn't do the trick they removed it. Total bill was $800 including the exhaust and all the diagnoisis. Looks like they jacked up the parts cost to make the labor look lower. I know they spent a lot of time figuaring this one out. Owner told me they pulled timing cover to check if belt had jumped a tooth. Plugged in a new cps because their scanner said the car was running at 66 rpms when not running only to find new cps gave same reading. Tried fuel pump. Did all the standard stuff - compression, fuel, ignition etc. Had to take more than 1.5 hours of labor they charged me. The exhaust replace took that long

?? 66rpm out of an engine that wasn't running ?? Are we talking about a Saturn, or some kind of 'alien engine' -- like them perpetual motion machines that feller in Mississippi keeps claiming he's invented
