I have a 2000 SL1, this winter I noticed something odd when driving on snowy roads. when one tire started slipping there would be this humming noise and then the other tire would catch. i had someone look at it from outside and saw both front tires would spin in the same direction. i bought the car used and didnt know there was any sort of posi or traction control option for this. it doesnt always work either. infact i think its breaking, at first it would engage every time i would lose traction, but now it happens much less. i remember slidingsnow mounds on the shoulder completely hanging up the right wheel with no chance of escape, but then i put it in reverse andand see left tire smoking as it works its way out (this is unprecidented by any other car i had owned in the past).it snowed hard last night when i was driving, the sound didnt come on once when i sponemy tireswhich means its almost broke. it sounds exactly like my friends new yorker that would says 'traction control' when you slipped, but that was not as effective as to what my saturn did earlier this winter.. "btw: youcan never be too heavey with your right foot with a 100hp engine!" lol.

i've driven cars with the tranny so f*cked up in them that the front axles were locked. You been doin' any reverse-J's lately? I'm not much of a transmission guy, so maybe someone else can help with the details
