I bought my Vue used in the summer. Now it's winter and Big Blue sits outside. In the last couple weeks, when the clutch pedal is released (not when depressed) and only when released quickly (not slowly, as in downshifting, etc.) it squeaks. This does not impair functionality in any way, but I am paranoid because my last Saturn (2002 SL) one day got a wiggly clutch pedal and moments later, the assembly fell apart, boom. This truly just feels like a squeak, but I don't want to ignore what might indicate a problem on the way. Anyone? Thanks!

Wow, having a clutch assembly fall apart is both highly improbable and really bad. Brake and similarly, clutch assemblies are made to high specs. Something very wrong in the case mentioned. However, your squeaky clutch seems to me that whoever built your car or it's sub-assemblies, did not apply lubricant to the bushing for the clutch pedal, and when it is under tension while being released, the bushing makes noise. No big deal. Don't worry that another freak accident is about to happen. I have heard the clutch pedal squeak in many other brands of cars!

Well, phew! Thank you! It does just seem to be in the cold weather, so I won't stress about it...

By the way, my Vue with 71,000 miles (manual trans) runs like a champ! Really, don't worry and employ some silicone-based lubricant where possible in the spring. (Requires getting upside down and spraying). If the sound is in the passenger compartment, you'll find the noise and quell it. Keep in mind that these cars use a hydraulic clutch, which means the clutch pedal is pressuring up a fluid system to do the work. Not much to break down. just sounds crazy.
