Default ISO Advice-S.O.S./2003 Saturn Vue Sport/6Cyl.

When driving my 2003 Saturn Vue, I noticed the performance became hard-lessened output when accelerating&then noticing a strong chemical smell. Soon thereafter, luckily pulling onto my street to parking,I noticed a lot of smoke coming from under the hood near the windshield & to the right side from inside the vehicle.I have not had any trouble-shooting issues thus far. From 1st notice to turning off this car, it was only driven maybe .5 mile or less. This vehicle was purchased thru a dealer 06/13-no warr.Any suggestions?

Default More 411.

This car was purchased just 2 mths ago from a dealer, with only a 30 day warranty that is now expired. Please note there has been no trouble shooting issues, up until today and car was not operated in any different way. All fluids have been topped off.

Not sure what your saying ....... no trouble shooting issues until today. I guess "hard-lessened output" means lose of power.

Question
is your SES light on?
is the rig over heating?
is the rig leaking anything?
is the rig making odd sounds?

some help here without the drama of a dime novel.

That chemical smell like rotten eggs or a stinking perm? If so, maybe something has come loose in the catalytic converter and clogged it. Get under it with a rubber mallet or wooden hammer handle and tap the cat con. If you hear it rattling, you got problems with it clogging.

Hi RJIon- Yes, loss of power in acceleration. As far as other ?'s-no, this does not apply.

Hi Rube- Yeah like a chem perm I would say. If not the CC-(no rotton egg smell), maybe a wheel bearing or caliper? Thanks for the advice.

Sounds like a plugged catalytic converter. Once you know if it is......the next question is why, and why no warning from a ses light.
