Looks like some heat hardening in a couple of spots. I hope I can keep using this one.

The sealing ring looks OK. For some reason I thought it was going to be a rubber seal but I guess this makes more sense.

That clutch pack shell really looks bad. It's got serious wear and is all discolored on this end from the heat of friction from rubbing on the case.

Man that's some serious wear and discoloring from heat. You can see the nut is right at the end of the shaft. Even the nut had started to hit the case occasionally as evidenced by the shiny spots on the end.

I really wish I could have done something about this sooner. I'll have to get another case cover from a junk-yard or something.

That's baaaad! It seems it's not a good idea to keep driving for long with a loose input shaft nut. That's some heavy wear to the clutch pack housing. I probably should replace that.

Holy Smokes!
I shouldn't be able to see the inside of the transmission before I take the cover off!
I was going through about a quart or so of fluid a day (50 mile drive each day) so I knew I'd find a leak but this is crazy. This definitely confirms that the input shaft nut is loose.

Found a 10' X 20' portable garage on craigslist for $200. Picked up a pickup for alternate transportation. Now I can finally get going on fixing this transmission.
